Closing the Loop: Recycling & Upcycling

Sometimes, despite best efforts, not every product we carry can be 100% eco-friendly. That’s why we encourage our Hermits Collective community to take the next step: recycle, upcycle, or donate clothing when you’re finished with it.

In Australia & New Zealand
We recommend Upparel, a leader in textile recovery. They transform old clothing into new materials such as insulation, furnishings, or recycled fabrics. Instead of ending up in landfill, garments are reused, donated, or broken down sustainably.

In the Americas (USA & Canada)
There are several strong options for responsible recycling:

For Days Take Back Bag — send back clothing (any brand, any condition) for proper recycling.

TerraCycle Zero Waste Box™ for Fabrics — mail-in recycling for textiles and clothing.

Goodwill & Salvation Army — most locations accept donations for resale, recycling, or textile recovery.

In Europe & UK
Recycling options vary by region, but some excellent pathways include:

H&M Garment Collecting Program — drop off any brand of clothing, in any condition, at participating stores for recycling.

Why It Matters

Recycling and upcycling clothing prevents textiles from ending up in landfill, reduces carbon emissions, and ensures that the resources already used in production don’t go to waste. Whether it’s repurposing an old hoodie, donating a t-shirt, or sending worn-out clothes to a recycling partner, small steps from each of us create a calmer, cleaner world.

At Hermits Collective, we believe comfort and sustainability belong together. By making conscious choices and supporting recycling pathways, you’re not just investing in yourself — you’re also helping create a collective future that feels better for everyone.
